Photo of the Day: Birch Bark Series

Today's Photo is also a commercial!  :o)  I framed this piece out for one of my craft shows last year and was so excited to finally see it all together because when I shot the photos this is exactly what I saw in my head as a finished piece... unfortunately it did not sell at the show, but that means it is now available for purchase on my website (along with may other pieces and other products).  Please check it out and I always welcome feedback on everything (the work itself, my site, pricing, process, etc!) so please feel free to send it along!

Photo of the Day: Bicycles Built for Two

This photo was taken in Berlin on my last trip there for the program we were doing at the time.  I loved the colours of it... the two purple bikes contrasted by the leaves made for a great feel I thought.  It was already a dreary yucky day, so taking the rest of the colour out of the photo only enhanced the feeling I had when I shot it.

Photo of the Day: Canoes for Two

This photo was taken at a retreat facility I went to somewhere in central Michigan for a weekend thing with church once.  (How's that for specifics?)  The canoes reminded me of a pair of shoes or something just sitting around waiting to be put away.  Had it been warmer that day I would have been longing to put one in the water and take a little trip down the river.  Lucky for the owners it was cold and yucky, and I only had a 15 minute break :o)

2 Things Challenge: Fire/Water

One of my followers participates in the 2 Things Challenge blog, and I finally got the link to it, I think it's super cool!  Can't promise it will be a weekly feature on my blog, but when I feel inspired to participate you can look forward to an extra entry that week!  This week's challenge is Fire/Water.  I selected this photo because of the fiery tones of the leaf and you can see the water through it that it was floating in when I shot it.  Hope you enjoy, if it's featured in their blog at the end of the challenge I'll let y'all know!

Photo of the Day: Keeping the Doctor Away

This past fall I was doing a family portrait sitting for some friends at a cider mill in the area.  They had a great outdoor market setup for some of their produce and I got this fantastic shot with the gorgeous afternoon sun on these delicious looking apples!  I've often said fall is one of my favourite times of year and the smell of apples just makes me feel all fall like and happy!

Photo of the Day: Wedding Plans

I love this photos for a bunch of reasons... one is because I actually shot it on my T-Mobile G1 (the Google Phone) and was thrilled with the results!  Another reason is because those leaves photographed beautifully and they are for the wedding, which means they'll look awesome in the wedding photos!  :o)  Smudge was trying to "help" put them away with me... meaning I had to work double time to get them taken care of before she destroyed them all.

Photo of the day - A Dedication

One of my readers occasionally posts fun "shadow portraits" of herself (as I like to call them), so I thought I'd dedicate this post to her and do the same :o)

I took this photo sitting on a bridge in the park near our house (Firefighters' Park). It was a gorgeous fall day and dad and I took Micah to go run around. Clearly I was tired of running around ;o)

Photo of the day

I am in a wonderful fall mood today! I biked over to Starbucks to meet my friend Erica for a workday (we both work from home so we meet up periodically to work somewhere else and keep each other company). Her husband Michael joined us a little while ago and is hanging out for a bit before heading into the office, so it's good times. The way the sun is shining today makes me think of a warm fall day, plus I got 2 samples of fake fall leaves in the mail yesterday that I had ordered to compare for wedding decorations, so my world is shiny :o)
I took this photo last fall in my backyard. The wind was blowing leaves everywhere and I was so inspired. I love fall, and any warm sunny fall day with amazing colours that I can run around and shoot for awhile is always a great day in my book!
